Brief
Introduction of Anhui Province
Anhui is called
"Wan" for short, she is an
inland province located in east China between 114¡ã54'~119¡ã37'east
longitude and 29¡ã31'~34¡ã38'north
latitude, close to the Yangtze River Delta and near the sea, with
total land area of 139,600 square meters and population of 62
million.

Anhui has diversified landforms like mountain, hilly region and
plant and also wide- spread water surface. The largest river in
China, Yangtze River and the third largest river Huaihe River runs
across the province from the west to the east. Chaohu, one of the
five largest freshwater lakes in China and other many lakes are
dotted in the central Anhui. From the north to the south, the
whole province is divided into five natural areas of Huaihe Plant,
JianHuai Hilly Region, Plant along the River, West Anhui Mountain
area, and South Anhui Mountain Area.
Anhui lies in the transitional climate zone between the south warm
temperature zone to the north subtropical zone, with a monsoon
climate, moderate the humid temperature. She has clear four
seasons, and abundant light, heat and water resources, multiple
type of land and rich forestry, animal , plant and aquatic
resources, which is suitable for the diversified development of
agriculture, forestry, livestock husbandry, fishery industries.
Not only boasting of beautiful land scenery and abundant
resources, Anhui has also rich culture heritage and proud
tradition for as Lao Zi, Zhuang Zi, Cao Cao, Hua Tuo and many
others. More recently, Anhui has produced many famous natural
figures, philosophers, entrepreneurs and scientists. The first
Nobel Prize winner of Chinese origin, a physicist was born in
Anhui. The highly educated and skilled human resource is the
powerful reflection of Anhui's
outstanding progress.
With the Hefei as the capital, Anhui now has 17 municipalities
under the provincial government, 5 county-level cities and 56
counties.
